Rick Reynolds, LCSW

Rick Reynolds is a leading expert in helping couples and individuals heal from the devastation caused by infidelity. With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Rick has utilized his unique experience, gift of humility, non-judgemental nature, and scriptural concepts to help restore lives impacted by infidelity.

Originally from Austin, Texas, he attended undergraduate school at Abilene Christian University, received his Masters in Social Work and Masters in Public Administration from the University of Denver in 1981, and then completed three years of post graduate work at the Colorado Institute for Marriage and Family Therapy in Boulder, Colorado.

He is a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker-Advanced Clinical Practitioner. He is also a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

He began his professional career in child care at the Children’s Home of Lubbock, Texas, and after graduate school became the director of the Employee Assistance Program for Swedish Medical Center and Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He began working for Minirith, Meyer, Tunnell, and Wilson in Austin in 1991, and in July of 1994, he opened his own practice, Crossroads Counseling Associates. In 2004 he founded “AffairRecovery.com” where he now serves as president.

Rick is both a writer and lecturer. He developed and began leading "affair recovery groups" in 1992. He received his Master's of Social Work from the University of Denver and completed three years of post-graduate training at the Colorado Institute for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Leslie Hardie, LCSW

Leslie Hardie, LCSW

Leslie is a licensed therapist who received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Her counseling expertise comes from numerous years of working with both individuals and couples. In addition to working with people experiencing many life challenges, ranging from transitional issues to mental illness, she specializes in individuals and couples healing from infidelity.

Over the years Leslie has helped hundreds of betrayed men and women work through their pain and assisted countless couples on their journey past their trauma and fear. She is the author of the Harboring Hope course which focuses on the healing journey of the betrayed spouse.

Leslie also specializes in working with clients who have experienced trauma, and is trained in EMDR. She has completed the Level III Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy which she uses extensively in her practice.

John Mark Haney, PhD., LPC

John Mark Haney, PhD., LPC

John Mark Haney is a licensed professional counselor who received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. Although he has years of experience working with multiple counseling issues, John specializes in working with issues of sexual dysfunction, shame and addiction, and has expertise in working with clients who have been betrayed in their marriages. He holds post-doctoral certification in sex therapy through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and is licensed by the State of Texas as a counselor supervisor.

John’s other primary focus is in existential counseling, which is the process of helping clients to find purpose and meaning in their lives. He is comfortable meeting clients wherever they are, either from a spiritual or secular perspective, and is an experienced and enthusiastic writer and speaker. Prior to joining Crossroads, he was a full-time college professor, and he continues to teach part-time graduate courses in counseling psychology.

Wayne Baker, M.A., LPC

Wayne Baker, M.A., LPC

Wayne Baker has been personally practicing the fine art of marriage for nearly twenty-five years and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from St.Edward’s University.

Wayne left the corporate world of Dell in 1999 after a successful career in sales and advertising to pursue his lifelong dream of counseling. Today he is in private practice, working with high-conflict couples and adult individuals impacted by traumatic events.

Wayne is certified in EMDR, Prepare/Enrich and Myers Briggs. He has extensive training and pending certification in Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.

Wayne has continued his involvement at St. Edward’s University, where he is a guest lecturer in the Graduate School of Counseling. He is also the co-author of a new chapter on couples relationship for a graduate school textbook, Positive Couple Relationships: The Evidence for Long-Lasting Relationship Satisfaction and Happiness.

Wayne and his wife, Amy, have a daughter in high school and a son in college and reside in the Northwest Travis County area with two thoroughly spoiled Labradors.

Sandy Clem MA, LPC Intern

Sandy Clem MA, LPC Intern

Sandy Clem has a Master's Degree in counseling from St. Edward's University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry and Christian Studies from Austin Graduate School of Theology.

Married to her Pastor husband, Steve, for thirty-four years, she has actively ministered in their church community—teaching, mentoring, providing individual counseling, and leading singles support groups, as well as grief recovery groups.

She works with adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and groups, adult survivors of childhood abuse, religious abuse, grief and trauma. Sandy uses narrative therapy to focus on stories individuals hold to be true about themselves—stories that both describe and shape people’s self-images, their histories and futures.

Her focus is on helping the client discover through talk therapy and spiritual resources, the hopeful potential within each to write and live a healthier self story.

Octavious Bishop, MSSW, PhD Candidate

Octavious Bishop is a Masters Level Social Worker, and PhD-Candidate in Psychology. He has counseled a vast number of issues related to addiction, family issues, autism (individuals and family members), couples, at-risk students, and student-athletes. Octavious’ diverse work experience and Bio- Psychological research base has allowed him a foundation of assessment that offers both the client and therapist a holistic approach in the therapeutic process.
Octavious’ detailed approach to the assessment of leadership styles has played a profound role in his therapeutic assessment of adolescents, and young adults in their personal and educational development. His transparent style of therapy has allowed a safe environment that is essential for youth, and young adults.

While working in the medical field as Director of V5 Sports Science, Octavious has gained the trust of men that struggle with, aggressive behavior and sexual deficiencies. He understands the sensitive nature of these issues and provides a safe environment that will help male clients and their partners explore both quantitative and qualitative approaches of assessment to help them in their daily lives and relationships.

Octavious is currently working on his first book: “Why I Never Played Baseball”. This book will be dedicated to exploring the importance of strong influences, forgiveness, and how leadership styles are developed based on personal experiences.

Octavious’ wife is the lovely and supportive expecting mother, Elizabeth Bishop. He loves writing, reading, motivational speaking, teaching, working out, and psychological research. Faith, Family, Others and Career are Octavious’ passions.

MJ Denis, MA, Program Intern

MJ Denis, MA, Program Intern

MJ Denis is an intern currently completing a Master's Degree in Counseling from St. Edward's University. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education from the University of North Florida. She taught middle and high school English and discovered her love for counseling. MJ has co-facilitated several women’s groups using Cloud and Townsend’s “Boundaries” program and has provided individual lay counseling for her church in the Round Rock area. Additionally, MJ is a volunteer advocate who answers the emergency hotline at Hope Alliance, a domestic and sexual violence crisis center.

Under Dr. John Haney’s supervision, MJ works to hear and understand both individuals and couples in a safe and nurturing environment. MJ’s passion is to help those struggling with issues related to sexual intimacy, trauma, shame, anxiety, and depression. Her approach naturally lends itself to creating an atmosphere of comfort, safety and healing. MJ’s focus is on helping clients gain insight and develop skills to live healthier, happier lives. Her approach to counseling embodies compassion, a sense of humor, and fearlessness to face difficult relationship issues.

When she is not working, MJ is doing homework or hanging out with her husband, two sons and two golden retrievers.
